This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you visit questnovum.com, subscribe to Quest Novum emails or contact us. It also explains why that information is used, who may process it, how long it is retained and the rights available to you.
Who we are
Quest Novum is an independent gaming and technology publication operated in the United Kingdom.
Quest Novum is responsible for deciding how personal information collected through questnovum.com is used.

Information we collect
Website operation and security
When you browse Quest Novum, our website and hosting infrastructure may process limited technical information needed to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the site. This may include:
- your IP address;
- browser and device information;
- requested pages;
- request dates and times; and
- server, security and diagnostic logs.
Website analytics
If you consent to Analytics or Statistics cookies, Google Analytics 4 may collect information about how you use the website. This may include:
- pages viewed and interactions with those pages;
- approximate location derived from technical information;
- browser, device and operating-system information;
- referral source and campaign information;
- session information; and
- online identifiers created through Analytics cookies.
Quest Novum uses this information to understand audience activity, assess website performance and improve its editorial and technical operation.
Newsletter subscriptions
If you subscribe to Quest Novum emails, we collect your email address and information needed to administer the subscription, including your subscription or unsubscribe status and relevant consent records.
Enquiries
If you contact Quest Novum by email or through a website contact facility, we process the information you provide. This may include your name, email address and the contents of your message.
We do not ask visitors to provide sensitive personal information through the normal operation of the site.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- operate, maintain and secure questnovum.com;
- understand website use where Analytics consent has been given;
- assess and improve website and editorial performance;
- respond to enquiries and privacy requests;
- maintain the Quest Novum email subscriber list;
- send emails that people have chosen to receive;
- manage unsubscribes and opt-outs; and
- meet applicable legal obligations.
Quest Novum does not sell personal information.
We do not use information collected through the website to make decisions about people solely by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Our lawful bases
Where you choose to enable Analytics or Statistics tracking, we rely on your consent. You can reject Analytics as easily as accepting it and can withdraw your consent later through the website’s Manage consent control.
Where you subscribe to Quest Novum emails, we also rely on your consent. You can withdraw that consent using the unsubscribe facility in our emails or by contacting us.
Where we process information necessary to operate, secure and improve the website or respond to ordinary enquiries, we generally rely on our legitimate interests in running, protecting and developing Quest Novum and communicating with people who contact us.
Where processing is required to meet a legal obligation, we rely on that legal obligation.
Newsletter and email subscriptions
Quest Novum currently uses Hostinger Reach to collect and manage newsletter subscribers and send email campaigns.
Hostinger may therefore process and store your email address and subscription information on our behalf.
We use subscriber information only for the purposes explained when you sign up. Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe.
If you unsubscribe, we will stop sending marketing emails to that address. We may retain limited information where reasonably necessary to record and honour your opt-out or meet legal obligations.
Website hosting and service providers
Quest Novum uses third-party service providers to operate its website and communications.
These currently include:
- Hostinger, for website infrastructure and Hostinger Reach email services;
- Google, for Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, business email and related Google Workspace services; and
- WordPress and supporting website software, used to operate questnovum.com.
These providers may process limited personal information on our behalf where necessary to provide their services.
Google Analytics 4
Quest Novum uses Google Analytics 4, implemented through Google Site Kit, to understand how the website is used and whether it is operating effectively.
Analytics is controlled through a consent-management interface. For visitors in the United Kingdom and other configured European regions, Analytics storage is denied by default. Cookie-based Analytics tracking is enabled only after the visitor chooses to allow Analytics or Statistics.
When Analytics consent is given, Google Analytics may set identifiers including _ga and related _ga_* cookies.
Quest Novum’s current Google Analytics configuration includes:
- 2-month event-data retention; and
- 14-month user-data retention.
These settings govern the relevant detailed data retained within Google Analytics. Aggregated reporting may not always be governed by the same retention controls.
Quest Novum does not currently use Google Analytics as an advertising system. Google Signals, Google Ads links, advertising pixels and additional advertising trackers are not enabled as part of this implementation.

Google Search Console
Quest Novum uses Google Search Console to understand how questnovum.com appears and performs in Google Search.
The information available to Quest Novum through Search Console is primarily aggregated search-performance information, such as search queries, impressions, clicks and indexed pages, rather than an individual visitor profile.
Cookies and consent choices
Quest Novum uses a consent interface that allows visitors to:
- accept Analytics or Statistics tracking;
- reject Analytics or Statistics tracking;
- review individual consent categories; and
- change or withdraw a previous choice using Manage consent.
Functional technologies that are strictly necessary to operate, secure or remember essential website choices may remain active without Analytics consent.
Rejecting Analytics prevents cookie-based Analytics storage from being authorised. Rejecting Analytics does not prevent the website from operating.
We do not treat this Privacy Policy as consent for non-essential tracking.
How long we keep information
Google Analytics event data is currently configured for 2 months, while relevant user data is configured for 14 months.
Newsletter subscriber information is kept while you remain subscribed.
If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information, we will remove or anonymise it where appropriate, while retaining any limited record reasonably necessary to honour your opt-out or meet legal obligations.
Ordinary correspondence is normally kept only for as long as it remains useful for dealing with the enquiry, maintaining an appropriate business record or meeting legal obligations.
Technical and security information is kept for no longer than reasonably necessary for website operation, security, troubleshooting and applicable legal requirements.
We periodically review the information we hold and remove information that is no longer required.
Sharing and processing
Quest Novum may share limited personal information with service providers acting on its behalf where necessary to operate the website, provide Analytics, manage subscriptions, deliver communications or maintain security.
We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
We do not sell personal information.
International processing
Some service providers used by Quest Novum, including Google and Hostinger, may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.
Where a transfer is subject to UK international-transfer rules, it must be covered by an applicable UK adequacy regulation, appropriate safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism.

Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis involved, you may have rights to:
- ask for access to your personal information;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- ask us to delete information;
- ask us to restrict certain processing;
- receive certain information in a portable form;
- object to certain processing; and
- withdraw consent.
Your right to object
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may have the right to object to that processing.
You have an absolute right to object to personal information being used for direct marketing.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how Quest Novum has handled your personal information, contact privacy@questnovum.com so we can investigate it.
We will acknowledge a data-protection complaint within 30 days of receiving it, investigate it appropriately and communicate the outcome without undue delay.
You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the United Kingdom’s data-protection regulator, if you are unhappy with how your personal information has been handled.
Security
We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security, but access to Quest Novum systems and services is restricted to those who need it for legitimate operational purposes.
Third-party links
Quest Novum articles may link to websites operated by publishers, manufacturers, retailers, platforms or other third parties.
Those websites operate under their own privacy practices. Quest Novum is not responsible for how an external website handles information after you leave questnovum.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Quest Novum develops or when its website features, service providers or information-processing activities change.
